SUNSETS:

1. Vida Hermosa Bar and Restaurant in Playa Hermosa-Awesome place to have drinks/food and take in Costa Rican culture and enjoy an awesome sunset. I think Saturday's sunset they have a surfing competition. It's both of my kids (son 22 American Airlines pilot/daughter 19, student at SMU in Dallas) favorite place to hangout. About a 10-15 minute drive or $8 Uber each way. Get there at least 30 minutes before sunset to take it all in.

2. Villa Caletas Hotel- one of the best views in the world. This is my wife and I's favorite place to have a drink and catch a sunset. Small, higher-end boutique hotel with outdoor amphitheater perched on a hill with spectacular panoramic views. About a 15-20 minute drive or $12 Uber each way.

3. The Pacific Point rooftop. Go right as you exit the condo and take the elevator or stairs up to the rooftop. Don't forget to bring a guest card.

HIKES:

1. Walking along the beach to the North end of town to possibly see monkeys, macaws, and sloths. I have personally done this and have seen all three animals mentioned above. You'll have to cross a potentially dangerous river/stream by foot in order to do so. Obviously, if it's high tide or running too much - DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CROSS! Once you are at the base of the hillside, walk to the right along the dirt trail. Be on the lookout for the monkeys and the sloths in the trees. The sloths are hard to fine because they typically are curled up in a ball sleeping.2. El Miro. Walking from the condo will add three miles roundtrip to your hike. We like to stop at a smalll market/fruit stand along the way to drink coconuts and have freshly made ginger shots. El Miro is an abandoned mansion covered in graffiti in a hillside at the South end of town. Once there, you'll see panoramic views of Jaco.

TOURS:

1. Tortuga Island Cruise - my guest website accessJACO.com provides detailed info. It's $145/plus tax per person without any bank or hidden fees. Includes roundtrip transportation the marina. This is through Costa Cat which is the main tour operator to Tortuga Island out of the Los Suenos Marina.

COFFEE:

Cafe Bohio is where the locals go. Family owned, open air with good Costa Rican vibes. Just right up the street.

Oceano Cafe is right downstairs at The Pacific Point.

BREAKFAST:

Mundaka is our go to for açaí bowls to omelettes. The owner is super cool.

Gaia is also a good place to go for fruit smoothies and açaí bowls.

LUNCH/DINNER:

Koko Gastro Bar has a great menu, fair prices, and is located on the beach close to The Pacific Point. The fruit drinks are really good. We also like their ceviche.

Ohana Sushi is air conditioned and has the best sushi in Jaco.

El Manglar for seafood

Inferno for pizzas. They also have really good salad bowls and unique fruit soda drinks.

Zelva is super nice, but expensive. Our favorite restaurant in the area. Don't go if you're on a budget.

Sepalo has a vast menu, a good air conditioned atmosphere, and is highly ranked on TripAdvisor. They have a really good tuna appetizer.

Locals Restaurant has arguably the best burgers in town.

Oz Sports Bar is a popular place to watch a game.

Graffiti is expensive, but is one of the best restaurants in Jaco.

Vivace for Italian

Jerah for Thai food

Jaco Bar for late night food. It can be loud.

GROCERIES:

Mas X Menos is a grocery store similar to the U.S.

Vindi is close by and probably the nicest small grocery store in Jaco. More expensive than others.
